Specific training and experience enable Psychologist Sandy Ogier to offer effective outpatient, individualised, psychological care. A number of mental health disorders can be treated to improve functioning in adults and youth.
A powerful new psychotherapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is based on cutting-edge research into how the human mind works (3rd wave CBT). Including component of Mindfulness, it has had clinically proven success in a wide range of psychological problems such as: Anxiety, trauma, self/shame, depression, stress, bullying, emotions/anger/grief, sleep, and suicidal thoughts.
The aim is help create a rich, full and meaningful life (perspectives and values) whilst teaching/ practicing a set of practical skills (committed actions) to handle difficult situations.
At Psych-ed Psychology, this involves offering a 100% customised treatment plan, combining specific self-exploration and practical techniques, with the result of feeling less stuck and being able to move forward in life using inner strengths. In this discovery, we promise to be flexible and present with each step on your journey.
THERAPY:
Sandy is a Psychologist who holds qualifications from Australia in Business and post graduate in Psychology and in Mental Health Promotion. - depression
- anxiety
- grief/loss
- sleep
- addictions
- PTSD/ Trauma
- Veterans, WorkCover, Motor Vehicle Accident
(X NO IQ assessment, BPD, High suicidal risk or ADHD. NO couple or family therapy at this stage)
+ specific training in: Chronic pain/ Work rehabilitation, Gambling, Carer's resilience
+ expertise in mental health promotion /wellbeing (Post Graduate qualification) and Suicide Prevention.
A range of other therapeutic approaches are also used: EFT, Gestalt, DBT/emotion regulation, Process oriented, somatic/body work/polyvagal, psycho-education, stages of change, etc.
HOLISTIC:
Sandy prides herself in being approachable and non-judgemental, but with a practical focus for daily life improvements for adolescents and adults. This can even include targeted diet for your brain and energy/sleep as part of a holistic approach, combined with body/breath work.
Aside from clear therapeutic guidance, she can offer a range of support from
structured change management / coaching, to spiritual conversations in dealing with loss and change.
Feeling stuck or experiencing suffering can happen even after people have tried many solutions. Whilst coping techniques are helpful, only a commitment to several therapeutic sessions provide long lasting results by addressing relevant core issues that have built up.
Once the Psychologist assess all aspects of a problem, over time they can also help build up self understanding and committed actions for change. Considering committing to 6 sessions is recommended (max 10 Medicare sessions / year)
Consent and payment method is to be collected through a secure online INTAKE form prior to your 1st session, so you can focus on your therapy.
IF using Medicare funding for your treatment, please organise the following documents to send to us PRIOR to your FIRST session:
A session with the Psychologist lasts typically 50 minutes, including discussing next appointment. Whilst a practical and targeted approach is used in each session, the Psychologist needs to initially establish a treatment plan for a 6 session course to establish real change.
Feedback from client enables to adjust topics to prioritise at each stage of progress.
Clients can take notes during sessions and progress with practice in between sessions.
Recommended industry fee for Psychologists is $260 per appointment. We still charge between $0 (bulk billing*) to only $130 for individuals until June 2023. Your gap will depend on your private health cover, Concessions* or if you have a GP's Mental health treatment plan MHTP with a referral letter.
(Bulk billing session usually applies to MHTP and concession cards and Doctor's recommendation)
Private fee paying clients can check their Health insurance or tax deduction options
(Sessions to be approved prior to assessment /starting treatment)
